Farmageddon

This engaging film grew out of filmmaker Kristin Canty’s difficulty finding safe, healthy food for her four children. It highlights the multiple factors that make it difficult for small farm operations to run successfully in the current U.S. food system. The film also documents the growing movement of consumers and small farmers working to change government farm policies.

Truck Farm

Truck Farm is more than a film: It’s a self-described food project. Born out of two guys’ frustration with not having any outdoor space to grow their own food, the film follows Curt Ellis and Ian Cheney as they buy a truck and plant a garden in it. But the two don’t stop there. They have a broader vision: to have a truck farm in every urban center that educates students people on the benefits of growing their own food. Are you ready to become a truck farmer?

Nutrition Detectives

This innovative program, designed by Dr. David Katz and Dr. Catherine Katz, teaches elementary school children how to read food labels and detect advertising deceptions. It also helps them learn to identify and choose healthful foods. It can be presented either as a DVD or PowerPoint slide show. The presentation is followed by a hands-on activity in which children apply their “detective” skills with real food packages. It is available in English and Spanish.
