Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, PhD

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is the founder and co-director of the non-profit research institute, Quality of Life Research Center (QLRC). The QLRC focuses on the study of “positive psychology.” Positive psychology focuses on human strengths such as optimism, creativity, intrinsic motivation, and responsibility. He has authored many books including Finding Flow: The Psychology of Engagement with Everyday Life. He is noted for his work in the study of happiness and creativity, but is most recognized as the architect of the notion of “flow,” which is a mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.
